V-Studio 700 - How to check your installed firmware version
Last updated on 3/29/2016Below are two sets of instructions for checking the installed firmware version on your V-Studio 700. Note that different steps must be taken to check the firmware version for the VS-700R and for the VS-700C. The VS-700R contains different firmware for the CPU, DSP and FANTOM VS chipsets. The VS-700C has its own firmware for the console.
How to check the installed firmware on the VS-700R IO:
You can check the currently installed firmware from the VS700R IO Editor. If you have not installed the VS700R IO Editor, instructions on doing so can be found by clicking here.
Windows:
- Make sure the VS-700R is connected to your computer and the power is on
- Click on Start or the Windows Logo in your Task Bar
- Navigate to All Programs | VS-700R IO Editor and click on VS-700R IO Editor to launch the application
- In the VS-700R IO Editor, click Help | About VS-700R I/O...
- The currently installed firmware for your CPU, DSP as well as FANTOM VS will be listed
Mac OSX:
- Make sure the VS-700R is connected to your computer and the power is on
- Open Macintosh HD and navigate to Applications | Roland | VS-700R IO Editor and then
- Double-click on VS-700R IO Editor to launch the application
- In the menu bar click VS-700R I/O Editor | About VS-700R IO...
- The currently installed firmware for your CPU, DSP as well as FANTOM VS will be listed
How to check the installed firmware on the VS-700C CONSOLE:
- Turn off the power of the VS-700C.
- Remove all cables from the VS-700C except for the power cable.
- In the "Setting" section on the back of the VS-700C, put DIP switch 8 in the "On" position while leaving all the other DIP switches in the "Off" position. See the picture below:
- Turn on the power again.
- Check the versions of VS-700C shown on the LCD display.
*No update is required if the version listed is 1.31 or later. - Turn off the power then put DIP switch 8 back into the "Off" position.
