Cakewalk now supports industry standard élastique Pro V3 by zplane.development as a time stretching engine, for both online and offline rendering. élastique is deeply integrated into Cakewalk across the entire ecosystem of AudioSnap and time/pitch processing operations. Two new stretch methods, Elastique Efficient and Elastique Pro, are now available as new stretch methods throughout the application (Elastique Efficient is now the default online stretch method instead of Groove stretching).
Using the Process > Quantize and Process > Groove Quantize commands to quantize AudioSnap beats (see To quantize audio to the project’s Time Ruler and To Groove Quantize an audio clip).
Using the Process > Fit to Time command (see Process > Fit to Time and Stretching and shrinking events).
To specify the default stretch methods, go to Edit > Preferences > Audio - Playback and Recording and select the desired default Online Render and Offline Render modes under Stretch Methods. The online render mode is used for real-time playback, and the offline render mode is used for export, freeze, and bounce. For details, see Algorithms and rendering.
Elastique Pro is a general purpose high quality time-stretching engine that fulfills the demands of professional productions and broadcast applications. It minimizes stretching artifacts, offers stable timing, inter-channel phase coherence and sample accurate stretching which allows for sharp transients and crystal clear vocals.
Elastique Efficient gives you similar time-stretching quality as Elastique Pro, but with a lower CPU hit. The algorithm is targeted at complex polyphonic signals like complete mixes and offers the same transient preservation as Elastique Pro.
Note: You can override the default stretch method at the track and clip level by selecting a different Online Render or Offline Render setting in the Clip Properties Inspector, Track Properties Inspector, or AudioSnap palette.
