Using Articulation Maps

Articulations are shown in a new Articulations pane at the top of the Piano Roll view. You can also view articulation events in the Event List view.

To show/hide the Articulations pane, click the Piano Roll view View menu and select Show/Hide Articulations Pane.

Inserting articulations in the Piano Roll view

To insert an articulation, do one of the following:

Drag in the Articulations pane as if you are drawing a note event

Double-click in the Articulations pane

Right-click in the Articulations pane and select Insert Articulation At Now Time

The Choose Articulation dialog appears.

The Articulation Map Library section in the top left corner shows all articulation map files (.artmap) that are stored in the C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Core\Articulation Maps folder.

Articulation maps are project based, so you must add the articulation map(s) you want to use to the project. To do so, double-click the articulation map name, or select the articulation map and click the button. The articulation map is copied to the Articulation Maps in Project section.

Articulations in a map are organized into groups. Groups in the selected map are shown in the Articulation Groups section. Articulations that are mutually exclusive can be grouped together, so they only occupy a single lane in the Articulations pane. Articulations cannot overlap in the same group/lane.

A single articulation map can contain multiple groups, each containing multiple articulations. Articulations are organized as follows:

Select the group that contains the articulation you want to use, then select the desired articulation and click OK.

The articulation now appears in the Articulations pane. The group name appears as the tile of the lane/row.

Repeat the above steps to add additional articulations. Articulations in different groups will appear in separate lanes.

Each lane’s tooltip shows the name of the parent map and group.
