When you right-click a chord symbol in the Staff view, the Chord Properties dialog box appears. If there is a grid in the dialog box and you click to the right of it, the Chord Fret Number dialog box appears. This dialog box lets you enter a fret number to label the fret where the index finger goes (Finger 1). Create your grid and finger positions first, then label the index finger fret.

Note: If you prefer to always use offline Help, go to Edit > Preferences > File > Advanced in your Cakewalk software and select Always Use Offline Help.
If you are not connected to the internet, your Cakewalk software will default to showing offline help until an internet connection becomes available.
